From 18.01 to 30.1.2017 the annual surgical camp took place in Asha Vihar. This time, 17 surgeries on 11 children were performed on three days of surgery.

The lower number of patients compared to previous years was related to the fact that this year was not only a humanitarian intervention, but also a workshop for two visiting doctors, Dr. med. Georg Zechel modified the clubfoot surgical method. Dr. Michael Fakharani (England) who regularly performs clubfoot surgeries in Tanzania and Dr. Diphankar Sen (India), who wants to support us in the next few years from the Indian side.

We are thrilled that Dr. Zechel in Asha Vihar developed surgery method is now also used in other continents with similar circumstances.

All patients could be discharged home without significant complications after 4 to 6 weeks as Asha Vihar.

As always, the surgical camp could not only take place thanks to the dedication of the team that has traveled from Germany, because they donate their holidays and for the most part the travel expenses, but also through the support of the Stephun Foundation and your generous donation readiness.
