Mosquito nets against malaria and dengue
Von Asha Vihar
30 May 2016

Distribution of mosquito nets in Damru.

On 27.05.2016 We were with our Asha Vihar children in the nearby small village Damru and have distributed mosquito nets there to the needy. These had been determined in advance in cooperation with the mukias (village leaders) of Damru. The children sang a song to welcome them and then distributed the nets, a total of 42 pieces.

Malaria is still considered a poverty-related disease because the overwhelming majority of sufferers simply can not afford the malaria prevention measures. This is all the more tragic because mosquito nets not only provide protection against malaria infection, but also against other mosquito-borne diseases such as filariasis. In addition, mosquito nets provide protection against the dengue fever transmitted by a diurnal mosquito to old and young children who rest or sleep during the day.
In the coming weeks, mosquito nets will be distributed in other villages around Asha Vihars.
